Ankara Esenboga Airport (ESB) is Turkey's second-largest airport, serving the country's political capital with a domestic and European route network. Turkish Airlines and Pegasus operate the majority of services, with domestic Turkish routes being particularly frequent and affordable — connecting Ankara to Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, and dozens of Turkish cities multiple times daily. European connections are more limited than from Istanbul and typically less competitive on price for long-haul. Ankara as a destination is primarily of interest to those visiting government institutions, Ataturk's mausoleum (Anitkabir), and the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations — widely regarded as one of the finest archaeological collections in the Middle East. For leisure tourism in Turkey, Istanbul or Antalya typically provide better value and a wider range of activities.
