Bangkok is served by two airports with distinct airline mixes. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is the main international hub and one of Asia's busiest, operated by Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, and dozens of international carriers including European long-haul services — all direct intercontinental arrivals land here. Don Mueang (DMK) is the low-cost airport serving AirAsia, Nok Air, and budget operators across Southeast Asia. For European arrivals, Suvarnabhumi handles all direct connections via Middle Eastern hubs. For onward travel within Southeast Asia from Bangkok, Don Mueang often produces cheaper fares to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Ko Samui, and regional international destinations than Suvarnabhumi. The BTS Skytrain Airport Rail Link gives reasonable connectivity to Suvarnabhumi in around 30 minutes; Don Mueang is typically accessible by bus or taxi in 45-60 minutes depending on traffic.
