Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) — 30 km from city centre
Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) is Morocco's main aviation hub, located 30 km southeast of Casablanca and connected to the city by train in under 30 minutes. Royal Air Maroc, Ryanair, easyJet, and Transavia all operate European routes from here, with the strongest connections to France, Spain, and Belgium reflecting Morocco's large diaspora communities in those countries. Casablanca is Morocco's economic capital rather than its cultural showpiece — the city is primarily a transit hub for most leisure visitors. The Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic seafront is the exception: one of the world's largest mosques, with a 210-metre minaret visible for miles, partially built over the ocean, and open to non-Muslim visitors on guided tours. The Mohammed V Square and the Art Deco architecture of the city centre date from the French Protectorate period and are worth a morning's exploration. Marrakech is 3 hours south by train, Fez is 4 hours east, and Rabat is 45 minutes north — all accessible without a car.
