Mumbai rewards visitors who allow 4-5 days rather than treating it as a quick stop. The Gateway of India, the colonial architecture of Fort and Colaba, Crawford Market, and the ferry crossing to Elephanta Island fill two to three days; the Dharavi neighbourhood, Bollywood studio tours, and the street food of Mohammad Ali Road add depth for longer stays. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) is a major Indian gateway, with Air India, IndiGo, and Gulf carriers Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Air Arabia operating the strongest international corridors. Most European routes connect via Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi rather than direct - which actually gives good frequency across the day. Domestic routes to Delhi, Bangalore, Goa, and Chennai are extremely frequent and often well under €40 with IndiGo or SpiceJet when booked in advance. Prices from Europe are typically lowest during monsoon season (June through September), when disruption risk is real; October through November offers a more reliable weather window at mid-range fares before the high-season premium kicks in around December.
